A. DESCRIPTION
The Indonesian Mediation Summit, which includes several sub-activities such as paper presentations, mediation seminars, and the presentation of ADR Indonesia awards, is a commendable and progressive series of events aimed at providing socialization to all stakeholders, particularly business actors, in using mediation as a resolution method for business disputes faced in the field. Currently, the Indonesian Dispute Board (DSI) has 4,589 mediators, 199 adjudicators, 144 conciliators, 727 arbitrators, and 125 dispute board practitioners. Hopefully, the presence of the Indonesian Dispute Board can contribute to efforts in preventing and resolving contract disputes between parties through the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism. This national-level awards ceremony is a prestigious event that serves as a platform for recognizing achievements in the field of ADR in Indonesia, carried out by dispute resolvers, including mediators, conciliators, adjudicators, arbitrators, and dispute board practitioners. With the Indonesian Mediation Summit, which features sub-activities like paper presentations, mediation seminars, and the presentation of ADR Indonesia awards, it is hoped that this event will contribute positively to enhancing the arbitration ecosystem in Indonesia. Additionally, it aims to boost the achievements and performance of mediators in resolving disputes within society. The role of dispute resolvers is crucial and strategic in preventing anarchic actions and vigilante justice by certain elements of society. The role of conciliators in the industrial relations sector is also vital and strategic, given the increasing dynamics of disputes in this sector, requiring professional and competent conciliators to mediate between workers and companies. The presence of adjudicators in out-of-court dispute resolution is also essential, particularly in public service sectors, making it necessary to appreciate and reward their performance to elevate the adjudicator profession as a promising career in the dispute resolution process in Indonesia. Awards for arbitrators are one of the highlights to be presented by the Indonesian Dispute Board (DSI) to competent and professional arbitrators who have resolved cases through mediation and are committed to continuously strengthening mediation regulations in Indonesia.
Finally, the profession of dispute board practitioners, especially in resolving construction contract disputes, deserves the highest recognition and appreciation for their role and dedication in peacefully resolving such disputes outside the courts, in ways acceptable to both contracting parties.
It is hoped that the Indonesian Mediation Summit, with its sub-activities such as paper presentations, mediation seminars, and ADR Indonesia awards, will become an annual event that contributes positively to strengthening and refining the ADR system in Indonesia. Furthermore, this event is expected to continue promoting the mediator profession as a noble and respected profession within Indonesian society.
